For 10 years now, the auction house Seidel & Friedrich has organised the legendary Automobilia auctions Ladenburg. With a constant sales rate of more than 85 %, this grate sales chance is combined with an international group of potential buyers.
Also in the spring auction on 06 & 07 May 2011, a profile of the automobile history is offered again in more than 2500 lots.
A special rarity is the original crash helmet of Luigi Musso, with which he had a deadly accident in 1958 in Reims, plus five trophies of Ferrari factory race drivers. Musso, who had started in 1955 for the Maserati factory race team, switched in 1956 to the racing team of Enzo Ferrari. At the Buenos Aires Grand Prix he raced with a car alternating with Juan Manuel Fangio and won. He achieved further successes at the 12-hour race in Sebring where he was second, at Mille Miglia in the same year he won the third place with a Ferrari 850 Monza... In 1957 he won in Buenos Aires the 1000 km race for sport cars and was third at the world championship with 16 point. With his victory at Targa Florio, 1957 was his most successful year.
At the GP in Reims in 1958, he had an accident when racing with more than 200km/h after the leading colleague of the team Mike Hawthorn he lost control of his Ferrari 246 Dino. With Musso and Collins, who had a deadly accident in the same year, Enzo Ferrari lost two of his top race driver.
The numerous trophies and more than 400 photos document the race driver career of Gerhard Koch, who at his time had led embittered racing battles with Ben Pon, Herbert Linge and Paul Ernst Strähle. Among his other achievements, Koch was successful with Porsche 356 B 2000 GS /GT, Porsche 904, 906, 907, 908, 910....
Another highlight is the crash helmet as well as the driver’s suit of Ottorino Volonterio, a race driver on Maserati 250F, along with numerous original documents such as, for example, the OFFICINE ALFIERI MASERATI originality certificate of type 250F of 1954.
More than 200 drafts and drawings of the designer and automobile draftsman Hans A. Muth.
Hans A. Muth was responsible, among other things, also for the interior design of BMW Turbo, BMW 3, BMW 6... for the design of BMW motorcycles since 1971-1980 (highlights R90S, 100RS); he was later responsible for the helicopter BK117, the Suzuki KATANA series and much more...
The legacy of Wolfgang Seidel, a race driver on Veritas, AWE, Ferrari, Maserati 250F, Mercedes Benz 300SL Coupe, Porsche, his personally arranged photo albums, will be met with great interest. Among his other achievements, Seidel was the winner at Targa Florio 1959.
A unique collection of the Italian cult brand CISITLIA, including an original design model in wood of a streamline coupe and also a folder from the holdings of Piero Dusio 1948 “Squadra Piero Dusio“; the 59-page folder presents the entire exhibition of all types that have participated in races with chassis numbers and features as well as the race drivers.
One could add also Bugatti original documents, including unique exhibits such as the Bugatti racing car tank prototype 57C...
